WHERE TO RUN IN NICE

MONT BORON.

A route not to be missed if you’re staying in Nice. Begin with a coffee at Café du Cycliste on the old port – the route begins only a few hundred metres away – and you can leave your belongings in a locker in the changing rooms.

Run alongside the port then past the beach where the coastal path begins, with magical views across the sea. After 3km you will reach the foot of a staircase, which is sure to make you wince. The objective is to keep running without cracking (good luck).

Here begins the ascent of Mont Boron. Nothing too difficult in terms of elevation, at most a good sweat if the sun has already risen in the sky. On Mont Boron and up to the fort, a good part is run in the shade of the pines. The 180-degree views over the eastern waters will reward your efforts. Then it’s a gentle U-turn back to the Café where we highly recommend the lemonade served at the bar.
