Escape the city and take the quieter MA-2013 to Bunyola to climb the southern side of Coll de Soller. The climb begins to the left of the tunnel that bores its way directly to the north coast. Savour the gradual gradient and switchbacks that wind their way through the olive groves and stop for a coffee in the summit café before the descent to the picturesque town that gives its name to the climb.

Those on a bigger day can take a right at Soller and tackle the island’s highest climb, the PUIG MAJOR. For less distance, take the famous MA-10 through the lower mountains and towards the coast. At Valldemossa, those wanting to dip their toes in the sea will also be rewarded by the views from the stacked set of switchbacks that lead down the steep cliffs to the port below. On the return, spin fast on the flat plains running through the olive and orange orchards that lead back to Palma.
