If there is one piece in my cycling kit that I won’t go without on 80% of my rides and 100% of my cycling races, it’s the Alizée rain jacket. Not only does it protect me from the outside rain, it keeps me going longer against many of the elements. It’s the outer layer I wear to keep me warm at night while racing ultra-endurance events. Layering is a cyclist's best friend. Having the ability to add the Alizée over a long sleeve or the lightweight Edith jacket or gilet is exactly what I need to ride longer. And I did just that in the Transcontinental race across Europe this summer. I rode longer than I ever had before! It was 4,700 kilometres across the continent and I bet I wore the Alizée for at least 1,000 kilometres of that! It kept me dry as I rode through the hills outside of Siena in the daytime as the rain came down. It kept me warm as I dropped down the Col d'Aubisque into the sunset with my hood on. It kept me protected against the wind in Bulgaria as I crossed the country to the finish.

One day on the Peru Great Divide, the track became a real ordeal: hours of pushing our bikes up steep and difficult slopes. When we finally got to the summit, eager to get back riding, the weather surprised us: a storm of hail and snow, and driving rain on the descent. Despite the cold, I felt incredibly lucky. Protected by my Rosie brushed tights and Albertine jacket, I could relish these moments in the eye of the storm.

I arrived at the Rift Gravel Race 2025 in Iceland with six other London friends and heightened nerves, worried I hadn’t trained enough for the challenge ahead. Nevertheless, spirits were high, ready to battle with the unforgiving terrain, relentless rain (and snow at times!) and the infamous river crossings, in the most beautiful setting of Hvolsvöllur. Through it all, my Suzette rain jacket was my constant, shielding me from the downpours and keeping me dry, shrugging off the icy winds at the second-last feed stop and staying snug and perfectly fitted even as the weather threw everything at me. Each time the cold bit or the rain lashed, I was grateful for the right kit: Suzette kept me straight, letting me focus on the beauty and brutality of the landscape.

Purple Mood in the Rain: Why This Jacket Turns Every Downpour Into a Highlight. This summer was one for the record books – unfortunately when it came to rain. But instead of dampening my spirits, it became proof of the quality of my Alizée Jacket.
